The House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee investigating the activities of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) has declared the appointment letter presented by the council’s self-acclaimed Director-General, Adeniyi Adeyemi, to be fake. Committee Chairman Yusuf Gagdi said findings from multiple government agencies, including the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, confirmed that both the appointment letter and the establishment document presented by Adeyemi were forged.
The committee stated that the Head of the Civil Service, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, reaffirmed during the hearing that the documents used to obtain official recognition and recruitment approvals were not authentic. Adeyemi was absent from the hearing despite earlier directives for security agencies to produce him before the panel as investigations continue.
Lawmakers are probing the circumstances surrounding the PFIPC’s operations and how it allegedly secured government approvals using forged documents. The committee says its investigation is aimed at identifying those responsible and ensuring accountability over the alleged fraud.
