\n\nThe Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, has admitted that her office failed to carry out adequate due diligence before approving recruitment requests linked to the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). She made the admission while appearing before the House of Representatives committee investigating the activities of the controversial council.
Walson-Jack explained that her office relied on an appointment letter, an establishment document, and representations made by officials of the organisation before issuing an authorised establishment and recruitment waiver. She acknowledged that the authenticity of those documents should have been independently verified, conceding that stronger due diligence could have uncovered the irregularities before approvals were granted.
The House committee is investigating allegations that the PFIPC operated without proper legal backing and obtained official recognition through questionable documents. The probe is aimed at determining how the agency secured recruitment approvals and identifying any officials responsible for lapses in the process.
