Students of D.S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori, Ogun State, have called for justice following the killing of an HND II student, Ahmed Sekinat, during a suspected armed robbery attack in a student community behind the institution. The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), South-West Zone, condemned the incident, describing it as a tragic reminder of the growing insecurity facing students and urging security agencies to identify and prosecute those responsible.
The student body’s leadership also called on the Ogun State Government, the police and the management of the institution to strengthen security around the campus and surrounding communities. According to NAPS, students should not have to live in fear while pursuing their education, stressing that immediate measures are needed to prevent similar attacks. The incident sparked protests, with students demanding improved security and accountability from the authorities.
NAPS extended its condolences to the deceased student’s family, friends and colleagues, while reaffirming its commitment to advocating for safer learning environments across Nigeria. The association urged the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation, bring the perpetrators to justice and implement lasting security measures to protect students on and around campuses.
