Four suspected cultists have been arrested during a security operation in Egbaen Community, Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State. The raid was carried out by the Edo State Special Security Squad, working alongside other security agencies, following intelligence reports on the activities of suspected cult groups in the area.
According to the state government, the operation was led by the Principal Security Officer to Governor Monday Okpebholo, Saturday Okoh, who said the suspects were apprehended at their hideout during an early morning raid. Security operatives also recovered items believed to be linked to cult activities, while investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest other members of the group who remain at large.
The Edo State Government reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining the crackdown on cultism and other violent crimes, warning that criminal groups would not be allowed to threaten public safety. Residents were encouraged to continue providing credible information to security agencies to support efforts aimed at maintaining peace and security across the state.
