The House of Representatives has directed the Inspector-General of Police to produce Adeniyi Adeyemi, the self-proclaimed Director-General of the alleged Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), before its investigative panel within 48 hours. The order was issued by the committee chairman, Yusuf Gagdi, during a hearing into the activities of the controversial agency, with lawmakers saying Adeyemi’s appearance is crucial to clarify allegations surrounding the organisation.
The committee is investigating how the alleged agency reportedly secured office space at the Federal Secretariat and obtained a ₦1.32 billion allocation in the 2026 Appropriation Act despite claims that it has no legal backing. Lawmakers also disclosed that they have uncovered about 29 suspected forged government documents, including purported approvals from the State House and other federal institutions. The police confirmed that Adeyemi has already been arrested, arraigned, and is facing an eight-count charge before the Federal High Court over related allegations.
While cautioning against actions that could prejudice ongoing court proceedings, the police pledged to cooperate with the National Assembly’s investigation. The committee insisted that Adeyemi must appear before lawmakers by 12 noon on Wednesday, saying his testimony is necessary to establish the facts before it submits its final report and recommendations.
