The Ondo State Police Command has arrested four police officers after a viral video showed them making ethnically insensitive and unprofessional remarks during a stop-and-search operation. The footage sparked widespread outrage on social media, prompting the command to immediately identify and detain the officers pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
The state Commissioner of Police condemned the officers’ conduct, describing it as unacceptable and contrary to the values of the Nigeria Police Force. He assured the public that the officers would face disciplinary measures if found guilty, stressing that the Force does not tolerate ethnic profiling, discrimination or any form of misconduct by its personnel.
The police also appealed for calm while investigations continue, reaffirming their commitment to professionalism, accountability and respect for the rights of all Nigerians. The command said appropriate action would be taken based on the findings of the investigation, as efforts continue to rebuild public confidence in the Force.
