Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed that he never doubted his ability to succeed in music, describing the confidence that drove him in his early years as “delusional confidence.” Speaking in an interview with Dose of Society, the Grammy-nominated singer said he remained convinced his dreams would become reality despite not knowing exactly how his journey would unfold.
According to Davido, his unwavering belief was rooted in his faith, talent and strong work ethic. He recalled leaving home determined not to return until he had achieved success, despite growing up in a family that placed great value on formal education. “I just knew it was going to work out. I had God, I had talent, and I knew I was ready to work hard,” he said.
Reflecting on his rise to global fame, the award-winning artiste said he no longer seeks validation from people who once questioned his career choice. Instead, he values the support of his family and remains grateful for the journey that has established him as one of Africa’s biggest music stars.
