Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has accused unnamed politicians of orchestrating the vandalism of a section of the newly commissioned Lameco Bridge in Osogbo, describing the incident as an act of sabotage against public infrastructure. After inspecting the damaged section, the governor condemned what he called anti-development politics, arguing that elections should be won through ideas and performance rather than the destruction of projects built with public funds.

Adeleke directed immediate security surveillance of major public infrastructure across the state and commended engineers from the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure for their swift response. He also referenced a similar incident reported at the Lagere Flyover, insisting that authorities must protect critical infrastructure from further attacks.

The Lameco Flyover was temporarily closed after a structural defect was discovered less than a month after its commissioning, sparking political controversy ahead of the Osun governorship election. While the state government and some political groups allege deliberate vandalism, the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected the accusation and instead called for an independent structural integrity assessment of the bridge.
