Former Minister of Power and Oyo State governorship aspirant Adebayo Adelabu has dismissed reports claiming he plans to defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to another political party. Through his media aide, Femi Awogboro, Adelabu described the rumours as false, baseless and a deliberate attempt to mislead the public, insisting that he remains a committed member of the ruling party.
Adelabu said he has neither held discussions with nor authorised anyone to negotiate on his behalf with any political party. He reaffirmed his confidence in the APC and pledged to pursue his political ambitions within the party’s established democratic processes, urging supporters to disregard the speculation.
The clarification comes amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections. Adelabu’s camp maintained that the defection claims were fabricated to create unnecessary tension, stressing that he remains focused on strengthening the APC and advancing his governorship aspiration in Oyo State under the party’s platform.
