The family of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has dismissed as fake a letter circulating on social media and purportedly addressed to the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). In a statement issued on behalf of the family by his son, Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, the document, titled “Urgent Message” and dated July 14, 2026, was described as fabricated and unrelated to the former governor.
According to the statement, neither the contents nor the handwriting in the viral letter originated from El-Rufai. The family urged the public and ADC members to disregard the document, insisting it was created to mislead people and stir unnecessary political tension.
The disputed letter had reportedly questioned the eligibility of a Kaduna State ADC governorship aspirant and called for intervention by the party’s national leadership. However, El-Rufai’s family maintained that the former governor had no connection to the document and warned against spreading false information capable of causing confusion within the party.
