Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has presented more than ₦3.1 billion in compensation to over 300 property owners whose lands were acquired by the state government for major infrastructure projects. The governor said the payments reflect his administration’s commitment to fairness, transparency, and protecting the rights of residents affected by compulsory land acquisition.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony in Ikeja, Sanwo-Olu explained that the beneficiaries were drawn from communities in Badagry, Epe, Ikorodu, Igbogbo, and Ogba, where lands were acquired for strategic public projects. He stressed that while infrastructure development is essential for the state’s growth, affected property owners deserve prompt and adequate compensation in line with the law.
The governor reaffirmed that the Lagos State Government would continue to balance development with the protection of citizens’ interests, noting that compensation for project-affected persons remains a key part of responsible governance. He also urged residents to support ongoing infrastructure projects, describing them as vital to improving transportation, economic growth, and the overall quality of life across the state.
