The United States recorded no major security incidents during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, according to FBI Director Kash Patel, who described the tournament as one of the largest and most complex security operations ever undertaken in the country. Patel credited the success to extensive coordination between federal, state, local, and international law enforcement agencies throughout the competition.
Speaking in a video released after the tournament, Patel revealed that nearly 5,000 FBI personnel were deployed nationwide to support security efforts. Authorities also neutralised more than 700 illegal drones, monitored dozens of team base camps, and secured fan zones and host cities without any major criminal or terrorist incidents disrupting the event.
The FBI said the operation demonstrated the effectiveness of inter-agency collaboration in safeguarding major international sporting events. Patel praised security personnel for ensuring millions of fans, players, and officials enjoyed a safe tournament, describing the successful operation as a significant achievement for law enforcement across the United States.
