A former Peoples Democratic Party governorship aspirant in Gombe State, Monica Yahaya Kaltho, has withdrawn her lawsuit challenging the party’s governorship primary and pledged her support for the PDP’s candidate, Prof. Isa Ali Pantami, ahead of the 2027 governorship election. Kaltho, the only female aspirant in the race, said she decided to discontinue the legal action after consultations and in response to an appeal by former Gombe State Governor and PDP leader, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, who urged party members to prioritise unity.

Kaltho explained that she placed the interests of the party and the development of Gombe State above personal ambition, describing Dankwambo as a respected leader whose counsel she deeply values. She urged PDP members to remain united and committed to ensuring the party’s success in the 2027 governorship election.

Pantami welcomed Kaltho’s decision, describing it as a demonstration of maturity and dedication to the PDP. As part of ongoing reconciliation efforts, he visited her residence to express appreciation for withdrawing the suit and assured party stakeholders that everyone would be carried along as the PDP works towards presenting a united front for the 2027 election.
