Community leaders in Plateau State have welcomed Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s decision to reinstate His Royal Highness Abdullahi Idris as the Rekna of Bashar, describing the move as a major step toward strengthening peace and unity in Wase Local Government Area. The Bashar Chiefdom Community Development Association (BACCODA) said the governor’s action would help resolve a long-standing chieftaincy dispute and reinforce reconciliation across the chiefdom.
In a statement jointly signed by BACCODA President, Dr. Zakari Mohammed, and Secretary, Yunusa Garba, the association commended Mutfwang for what it described as a commitment to justice, grassroots peacebuilding, and the preservation of traditional institutions. It added that restoring the monarch reflected the governor’s willingness to listen to the concerns of the people while placing communal harmony above political differences.
The association urged residents of Bashar Chiefdom and Wase Local Government Area to support their traditional institutions, remain law-abiding, and work together to sustain the prevailing peace. It also reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with the Plateau State Government, traditional leaders, and the Federal Government to promote development and improve the well-being of communities across the area.
