FG Pushes Full Digital Identity Enrollment as NIN Registration Drive Intensifies
\n\nThe Federal Government has intensified efforts to ensure that every eligible Nigerian is enrolled in the National Identity Number (NIN) database, with agencies across the country directed to accelerate registration and improve access to enrollment centres.

The renewed drive follows President Bola Tinubu’s directive to the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to work towards achieving universal digital identity coverage. The government says expanding the NIN database is crucial for improving public service delivery, strengthening national security, reducing identity fraud, and supporting Nigeria’s digital economy.

Officials explained that the expanded enrollment will make it easier for Nigerians to access government programmes, banking services, healthcare, education, and telecommunications services. Special attention is also being given to underserved rural communities through mobile registration teams and additional enrollment centres.

The Presidency believes that a comprehensive national identity system will enhance transparency in governance, improve planning, and ensure social intervention programmes reach their intended beneficiaries.

NIMC has encouraged Nigerians who have not yet registered to take advantage of the ongoing nationwide exercise, assuring the public that efforts are being made to reduce waiting times and improve the registration process.
