ExxonMobil to Invest $1 Billion in Nigeria’s Offshore Oil Project

ExxonMobil to Invest $1 Billion in Nigeria’s Offshore Oil Project
\n\nNigeria’s oil and gas sector has received another major boost as ExxonMobil and its partners announced plans to invest $1 billion in the Usan Infill Project, an offshore oil development expected to significantly increase the country’s crude oil production.

The announcement was confirmed by the Nigeria Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), which said the project is projected to add about 40,000 barrels of crude oil per day once operations begin. The investment marks ExxonMobil’s return to large-scale drilling activities in Nigeria after nearly a decade, with its last major drilling campaign taking place in 2016.

The renewed investment is being viewed as a strong vote of confidence in Nigeria’s oil industry, particularly as the Federal Government continues implementing reforms aimed at improving the investment climate and increasing energy production.

Officials believe the project will create employment opportunities, strengthen local content participation, and generate additional revenue for the country through increased oil exports. It also aligns with Nigeria’s broader goal of raising crude oil output while attracting fresh capital into the energy sector.

Industry analysts say the investment reflects growing confidence among international oil companies, driven by improved regulatory policies, enhanced security around oil facilities, and government efforts to reduce crude oil theft.

As global demand for reliable energy supplies remains strong, the Usan Infill Project is expected to reinforce Nigeria’s position as one of Africa’s leading oil producers while contributing to long-term economic growth through increased production and foreign investment.
