Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has empowered more than 800 women in Kogi State through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) while commissioning two major public projects during a one-day working visit to the state. The projects inaugurated were the newly completed Kogi State Treasury House and the Primary Healthcare Centre at Lokongoma Phase I in Lokoja. Speaking at the event, Tinubu described the projects as strategic investments that would improve public service delivery, strengthen healthcare and enhance the welfare of residents.
At the Government House in Lokoja, the First Lady flagged off the distribution of empowerment materials and start-up grants to the women beneficiaries, explaining that the programme is designed to promote self-reliance, improve household incomes and create sustainable economic opportunities for women and other vulnerable groups. She urged the beneficiaries to make productive use of the support to expand their businesses and contribute to the economic development of their communities. Tinubu also commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and his administration for prioritising infrastructure, healthcare and other people-centred projects, while praising the Governor’s wife, Hajia Sefinat Ododo, for her efforts to improve the welfare of women and vulnerable residents in the state.
Governor Ododo expressed appreciation to the First Lady for choosing Kogi for the intervention, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare, infrastructure and social welfare programmes. He said the state would continue to partner with the Federal Government and development organisations on initiatives that improve the lives of residents and drive inclusive development across Kogi State.
