The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the August 15 Osun State election, Bola Oyebamiji, has praised President Bola Tinubu and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu for the successful rescue of the pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. In a statement issued by the Head of the Media and Publicity Committee of the Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council, Oluremi Omowaiye, Oyebamiji described the victims’ safe return after 56 days in captivity as a major victory for Nigeria’s security architecture.
Oyebamiji commended President Tinubu for refusing to yield to the kidnappers’ demands and for approving the deployment of 1,000 forest guards to strengthen regional security. He also lauded the National Security Adviser, the Minister of Defence, the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and other security agencies for carrying out what he described as a well-coordinated, intelligence-led operation that rescued the hostages, neutralised several terrorists and led to the arrest of multiple suspects.
While celebrating the successful rescue, Oyebamiji expressed condolences to the families of those who lost loved ones during the attack, particularly the family of Michael Oyedokun, the teacher who was killed while in captivity. He also raised concerns about the state of security in Osun State, urging the current administration to strengthen its security architecture to better protect residents from similar threats.
