The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced that Nigerians and other applicants in the United States seeking Nigerian visas must now submit their applications directly at Nigeria’s diplomatic missions in the U.S., following the suspension of third-party visa processing. According to the agency, all visa applications must, until further notice, be lodged at the Embassy of Nigeria in Washington, D.C., or the Consulates-General in New York and Atlanta.
The directive follows recent changes to U.S. visa policies affecting Nigerian citizens and is aimed at streamlining Nigeria’s visa administration in the United States. The NIS said the temporary measure affects all categories of applicants and advised those planning to travel to Nigeria to make their applications directly through the designated diplomatic missions to avoid delays.
The immigration service urged applicants to monitor official announcements for further updates, noting that the arrangement remains in effect until a new processing system is introduced. It also encouraged prospective travellers to begin their applications early and ensure all required documentation is complete before visiting the embassy or consulates.
