The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested eight suspects in a series of intelligence-led operations across the state, recovering stolen property, livestock and 3,427 assorted illicit drugs in what it described as a major breakthrough in its ongoing fight against crime. According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Shi’isu Adam, the operations targeted suspected vandals, thieves, cattle rustlers and drug traffickers, leading to the recovery of vandalised electric cables, three stolen cows, a PlayStation 5 console, two plasma television sets and other stolen valuables.
Police said three teenagers were arrested in Dutse for allegedly vandalising and receiving stolen electric cables, while another suspect from Kano State was apprehended with a stolen PS5 and two plasma televisions worth about ₦2.5 million, which have since been returned to their rightful owners. In a separate operation in Guri Local Government Area, officers recovered three cows believed to have been stolen and arrested a suspected cattle rustler, with investigations continuing to identify other members of the syndicate.
The command also raided drug hotspots in Dutse, Gumel and Kazaure, arresting three suspected drug dealers and seizing 3,427 assorted drugs, including Tramadol, Pregabalin, Exol tablets, cannabis and other prohibited substances, along with cash suspected to be proceeds from drug sales. The Commissioner of Police commended officers for their professionalism and urged residents to continue providing credible information to support efforts to rid Jigawa of criminal elements and enhance public safety.
