\n\nPresident Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to launch a full investigation into a fraudulent organisation operating under the name Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).
According to a statement issued by the Presidency, the so-called council was never established by the Federal Government and has no legal backing. However, its alleged leader reportedly presented himself as a presidential appointee and is accused of using forged government documents to gain credibility and conduct official-looking activities.
The President directed the ICPC to conclude its investigation within 30 days and submit a comprehensive report. Authorities are expected to investigate allegations including the forging of appointment letters and other government documents, the use of a false presidential identity to obtain official recognition and diplomatic support, and the opening of bank accounts in the names of non-existent government agencies.
The Presidency stressed that the Federal Government remains committed to protecting the integrity of public institutions and ensuring that individuals who impersonate government officials or create fake agencies are held accountable under the law.
The investigation has generated widespread public attention, with many Nigerians calling for stronger measures to prevent fraudulent groups from exploiting the names of government institutions. Legal analysts say the case highlights the importance of verifying official appointments and government agencies through authorised channels.
If the allegations are confirmed, those involved could face prosecution under Nigerian laws relating to forgery, impersonation, fraud, and abuse of public trust. The ICPC is expected to provide updates as the investigation progresses.
