Former Anambra State governor and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi has said he may not be alive to contest the 2027 presidential election, citing what he described as increasing pressure and attempts to frustrate his political activities. Speaking during an interview, Obi alleged that government actions against him and other opposition figures had intensified, adding that no one could guarantee what the future holds.
Obi maintained that his comments were not an indication that he intended to withdraw from the race but rather a reflection of the uncertainty surrounding life and the political climate. He accused the government of using state institutions to intimidate opposition politicians and insisted that his focus remains on advocating for good governance, accountability and national development despite the challenges.
