Veteran actress and filmmaker Uche Jombo has said that a good reputation, professionalism and consistency are far more important than physical beauty for anyone hoping to build a lasting career in Nollywood. Reflecting on nearly three decades in the film industry, she explained that refusing to be defined by stereotypical roles and continuously improving her craft were among the key decisions that have kept her relevant over the years.
Jombo noted that while beauty may attract initial attention, it is talent, discipline, reliability and integrity that sustain a career in the highly competitive entertainment industry. She advised aspiring actors to focus on developing their skills, maintaining a strong work ethic and protecting their reputation, stressing that the industry values people who are dependable and committed to excellence.
The award-winning actress also encouraged young filmmakers and performers to remain patient and resilient, saying success in Nollywood comes through hard work, persistence and continuous learning rather than overnight fame.
