Two police officers attached to the Imo State Police Command have died following a tragic road accident involving seven operatives along the Amakalu–Umuelemma Road in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State. The accident occurred on June 29, 2026, while the officers were on official duty. According to the command, the two officers later succumbed to their injuries while receiving medical treatment, while the remaining five injured personnel are still undergoing treatment.
The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Henry Okoye, said the Commissioner of Police, Audu Garba Bosso, expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended his condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of the deceased officers. Bosso described their deaths as a painful loss to both the Imo State Police Command and the Nigeria Police Force, assuring that every necessary medical and welfare support would be provided to the injured personnel as they recover.
The Imo State Police Command has launched a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal crash. While the identities of the deceased and injured officers have not yet been released, the command urged the public to keep the affected families and the injured officers in their thoughts and prayers as investigations continue.
