Gunmen Invade Borno School During NECO Exams, Abduct Students as Security Forces Launch Rescue Operation
\n\nPanic gripped residents of Lassa Community in Askira-Uba Local Government Area of Borno State after suspected terrorists attacked a secondary school while students were writing their National Examinations Council (NECO) examinations.

The attackers reportedly abducted an unspecified number of students and teachers during the raid, prompting an immediate military response. Security forces, supported by air surveillance, launched a search-and-rescue operation and successfully rescued ten victims after engaging the gunmen.

The operation, however, came at a heavy cost, with a Nigerian soldier and a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force losing their lives in the exchange of fire.

The incident has once again highlighted the persistent security challenges facing schools in parts of northeastern Nigeria, despite repeated assurances by authorities to improve the safety of students and educational institutions.
