The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the recruitment of ad-hoc personnel for the upcoming Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026. The commission is inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for various election-related positions through its official INECPRES portal.
According to INEC, available positions include Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs), Presiding Officers (POs), Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs), Registration Area Technical Support Staff (RATECHs), and Registration Area Centre (RAC) Managers. The commission stated that the online application portal opened on June 27 and will automatically close at midnight on July 18, 2026.
INEC explained that eligibility requirements vary by role. SPO positions are open to qualified public servants on Grade Levels 12–14 and certain eligible INEC personnel. For PO and APO roles, serving NYSC members, ex-corps members who completed service between 2024 and 2026, penultimate-year students of federal tertiary institutions, and qualified federal civil servants may apply. RAC Managers will be selected from heads of schools or staff of institutions serving as registration centres, while RATECH positions are reserved for suitable ICT personnel.
The commission stressed that applicants must be politically neutral and must not be members of any political party or have publicly demonstrated support for any candidate or party. Interested candidates were advised to complete their applications before the deadline, as late submissions will not be accepted. The recruitment exercise forms part of INEC’s preparations for the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.
