Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA have killed two suspected Lakurawa terrorists and recovered weapons and ammunition during a military operation in the Sabarumawa axis of Kebbi State. The operation was carried out after troops encountered armed terrorists operating in the area, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire.
According to military sources, the troops successfully overpowered the terrorists during the engagement, neutralizing two of them while forcing others to flee. Following the operation, soldiers recovered arms and ammunition believed to have been used by the group. The recovered items have been taken into military custody as investigations and follow-up operations continue.
The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by Operation FANSAN YAMMA to combat the activities of Lakurawa militants and other armed groups operating in parts of northwestern Nigeria. In recent months, security forces have intensified clearance operations across Kebbi and neighboring states, leading to the recovery of weapons, explosives, and logistics equipment from terrorist camps.
Military authorities said troops remain on the trail of fleeing suspects and have continued offensive operations aimed at preventing terrorists from regrouping. The latest success comes amid broader security efforts to restore stability in border communities affected by terrorist and bandit activities in the North-West region.
