Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili has endorsed Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya for the presidency of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), describing her as a principled, competent, and visionary leader capable of advancing the legal profession. The endorsement was announced on Sunday as the NBA prepares for its upcoming presidential election.
Ezekwesili praised Badejo-Okusanya’s professional record, highlighting her work in legal ethics, arbitration, governance, and advocacy for the welfare of young lawyers. According to the former minister, these qualities align with the current needs of the legal profession and position her as a strong candidate for the association’s highest office.
The endorsement adds to a growing list of prominent supporters backing Badejo-Okusanya’s candidacy. Recently, Paul Adefarasin also expressed support for her, citing her integrity, professionalism, and commitment to national development. Supporters argue that her extensive legal experience and leadership credentials make her well-suited to lead the NBA during a period of evolving challenges for the profession.
Badejo-Okusanya, who was elevated to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2025, has served in both public and private legal practice, including a stint as General Counsel to the Governor of Lagos State. If elected, she would become the first woman to serve as President of the Nigerian Bar Association, marking a historic milestone for one of Nigeria’s most influential professional bodies.
