The Government of Ireland has announced that applications for the 2027/28 Ireland Fellows Programme will open on Monday, June 29, 2026, giving qualified Nigerians an opportunity to pursue fully funded Master’s degree programmes at leading Irish universities. The scholarship is targeted at early- and mid-career professionals seeking to enhance their expertise and contribute to development in their home countries after completing their studies.
According to the Embassy of Ireland in Nigeria, the programme covers tuition fees, monthly living allowances, accommodation support, airfare, visa expenses, and health insurance, making it one of the most comprehensive international scholarship opportunities available to Nigerian students. Nigerian applicants will also have access to the Roger Casement Fellowship in Human Rights, which supports postgraduate studies in fields such as Law, Human Rights, Governance, and related disciplines. Applications will remain open from June 29 to July 26, 2026.
Eligible candidates are expected to possess a bachelor’s degree and relevant professional experience, with the programme particularly encouraging applications from individuals who demonstrate leadership potential and a commitment to driving positive change in their communities. Successful applicants will undertake a one-year Master’s programme in Ireland before returning home to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during their studies.
