\n\nThe Federal Government on Wednesday directed all banks and designated non-financial businesses to fully comply with sanctions obligations by freezing the assets of suspected terrorism financiers.
The directive, issued by the Nigerian Sanctions Committee, reaffirms the country’s commitment to combating terror financing and states that terrorists and their sponsors have no safe haven in Nigeria.
The move comes in response to recent US sanctions targeting Nigerians and Bureau de Change (BDC) operators linked to terror networks. The government urged immediate filing of Suspicious Transaction Reports and compliance with all relevant authorities.
This action is part of broader efforts to strengthen financial controls and disrupt funding channels for banditry, insurgency, and other threats to national security.
