A Nigerian national, Ayodeji Olamide Ajayi, has been deported from the United States after accumulating multiple criminal convictions, including domestic violence, while remaining in the country illegally for nearly two decades.
The deportation was disclosed by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in a statement shared on its official social media platform. According to the agency, Ajayi entered the United States in 2007 on a student visa but failed to leave the country after discontinuing his studies.
ICE stated that rather than complying with immigration regulations and departing the United States, Ajayi remained in the country and amassed an extensive criminal record. Authorities said his convictions included domestic violence, trespassing, intimidation, and obstruction.
The agency further revealed that his criminal history also contained charges related to kidnapping, rape, and family neglect, although it did not provide detailed information regarding the locations of the offences, the outcomes of those specific charges, or the courts involved.
In its statement, ICE credited the deportation to the immigration enforcement policies of President Donald Trump, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to removing undocumented immigrants with criminal records from the country.
