\n\nThe Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has revealed that it responded to 18 major emergency incidents across the state between June 14 and June 21, 2026, without recording any fatalities.
According to the agency, the incidents involved road crashes, fire outbreaks, container truck accidents, tanker-related emergencies, and infrastructure failures across different parts of Lagos, including Obanikoro, Maryland, Okota, Mushin, Marina, Otedola, Ikeja Underbridge, and the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
LASEMA spokesperson, Afolabi Olawale, stated that no lives were lost in 17 of the incidents, while a victim trapped in a 40-foot container accident at Maryland Roundabout was rescued alive and taken to the hospital for medical attention.
The agency said its emergency response units, including the Cobra, Eagle, Sharks, and Lagos Response Team, worked alongside agencies such as the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Nigeria Police Force, Federal Road Safety Corps, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, LASAMBUS, and community stakeholders to manage the situations.
Among the incidents handled was a factory fire at COPACI Nigeria Limited in Okota, which responders contained before it spread to nearby warehouses. Another fire involving a Mercedes-Benz vehicle at Polaris Bank premises in Marina was also successfully extinguished.
LASEMA further disclosed that recovery equipment and cranes were deployed to remove obstructions and restore traffic flow on major routes, including Challenge-Mushin, Obanikoro-Maryland, Otedola Bridge, and the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The agency attributed the successful response to improved emergency infrastructure, continuous training of personnel, and investment in modern equipment, while urging residents to promptly report emergencies and motorists to maintain their vehicles and obey traffic regulations.
