\n\nThe Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the winners of several federal and state constituency by-elections held across Nigeria on Saturday, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) recording victories in most of the contested seats.
In Enugu State, APC candidate Ikeje Asogwa won the Enugu North Senatorial District by-election with 162,360 votes, defeating the PDP’s Chief Nestor Ezeme, who secured 9,299 votes. The election was conducted to fill the vacancy created by the death of Senator Okey Ezea in November 2025.
In Kebbi State, APC’s Rabiu Garba Aiki emerged victorious in the Zuru State Constituency by-election after polling 4,887 votes, defeating Labour Party candidate Aliyu Galadima Muhammad, who garnered 168 votes. The seat became vacant following the death of former Speaker Muhammad Usman Zuru.
Kano State also recorded an APC victory, with Rabiu Shuaibu winning the Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency by-election. Shuaibu secured 35,356 votes ahead of candidates from the Allied Peoples Movement and the Labour Party.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) recorded its only major victory in Rivers State, where Olaka Nwogu won the Rivers South-East Senatorial District by-election with 47,961 votes, defeating APC candidate Osar Erewari. The election was held following the death of Senator Barry Mpigi earlier this year.
In Ondo State, APC candidate Dayo Faduyile won the Ondo South Senatorial District seat with 68,474 votes, while Danladi Envulu-anza of the APC emerged victorious in the Nasarawa North Senatorial by-election, polling 45,362 votes ahead of candidates from the Labour Party and PDP.
The by-elections were conducted to fill vacancies created by the deaths of lawmakers and appointments to federal positions, with the APC strengthening its presence across several legislative constituencies while the PDP retained only the Rivers South-East seat.
