The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has warned its members against actions it says undermine the authority of its detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu, amid an escalating leadership dispute within the organization. The group threatened disciplinary measures against members who defy Kanu’s directives or challenge his authority over appointments and internal affairs.
According to IPOB, Kanu remains the movement’s supreme leader despite his continued detention and ongoing legal proceedings. The group stated that only Kanu possesses the authority to appoint or remove officials, insisting that any attempt to disregard his decisions amounts to a violation of the organization’s code of conduct. The warning comes as rival factions within the movement continue to contest legitimacy and control of the Directorate of State, IPOB’s administrative structure.
