The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has approved the replacement of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Anthony Placid as the Force Public Relations Officer, barely three months after his appointment to the position. The development marks another leadership change in the Nigeria Police Force’s public communications unit and comes amid ongoing efforts to strengthen the force’s engagement with the public and the media.
Placid was appointed as Force spokesperson in March 2026, succeeding Benjamin Hundeyin. Before his appointment, he had served in several operational, intelligence, training, and international peacekeeping roles within and outside Nigeria. His tenure as spokesperson lasted only a few months before the latest redeployment approved by the police leadership.
