Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has presented an account of his administration’s performance ahead of the state’s governorship election, insisting that he has largely fulfilled the promises made to voters during the 2022 campaign. Speaking while seeking renewed support from residents, the governor pointed to achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, security, and public sector reforms as evidence that his government has delivered on its commitments.
Oyebanji stated that his administration has invested heavily in road construction, rural electrification, healthcare facilities, and human capital development. He also highlighted improvements in security and economic empowerment programmes, arguing that the government’s “Shared Prosperity” agenda has translated into measurable benefits for residents across the state. According to him, continuity in governance is necessary to consolidate the gains already recorded and accelerate development in the coming years.
The governor further emphasized reforms aimed at improving transparency and accountability in government operations. Supporters of the administration have pointed to initiatives such as budget engagement processes, civil service reforms, fiscal transparency measures, pension payments, and institutional strengthening as key accomplishments of his first term. The ruling APC maintains that these reforms have improved governance and enhanced public confidence in state institutions.
The stewardship presentation comes just days before the Ekiti governorship election, with political parties intensifying campaigns across the state. While opposition parties have continued to challenge the governor’s assessment of his performance, Oyebanji remains confident that voters will endorse his record at the polls. He has also repeatedly called for peaceful participation in the electoral process, urging supporters and opponents alike to maintain peace before, during, and after the election.
