Court Orders Sowore’s Arrest Over Failure to Attend Trial

Court Orders Sowore’s Arrest Over Failure to Attend Trial
\n\nA Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the arrest of activist and AAC presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, after he failed to appear for his cybercrime trial on Tuesday.

Sowore is facing charges filed by the DSS over social media posts in which he allegedly referred to President Bola Tinubu as a “criminal.” He had pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Although Sowore informed the court that he travelled to Lagos to seek legal representation after his lawyers withdrew from the case, Justice Mohammed Umar revoked his bail and issued a warrant for his arrest following an application by the DSS.

The activist had previously asked the judge to step down from the case, alleging bias and claiming his lawyers were discouraged from continuing due to the court’s handling of the proceedings.

The case continues as authorities move to enforce the court’s arrest order.
