The All Progressives Congress in Ogun State has officially unveiled the running mate of its governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, ahead of the 2027 governorship election. The announcement comes weeks after the party adopted Adeola as its consensus governorship candidate following extensive consultations among party leaders and stakeholders.
Party leaders described the choice of the deputy governorship candidate as a strategic move aimed at strengthening the APC’s electoral prospects across the state and ensuring balanced representation. The unveiling ceremony attracted key party figures, including state executives, elected officials, traditional leaders, and supporters, who pledged to work together to secure victory for the APC in the next governorship election. The party said the ticket was carefully assembled to promote unity, continuity, and effective governance.
Speaking at the event, Yayi expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, Governor Dapo Abiodun, and other party leaders for their confidence in his leadership. He reiterated his commitment to building on the developmental projects of the current administration while pursuing policies that would accelerate economic growth, infrastructure development, job creation, and improved public services across Ogun State. He also called on party members to remain united and avoid actions that could undermine the APC’s chances in 2027.
The APC has already begun positioning itself for the election, with political observers noting that the emergence of a complete governorship ticket signals the start of a more intensive campaign phase. Analysts believe the party is seeking to consolidate support across Ogun’s three senatorial districts while maintaining the momentum generated by Adeola’s emergence as consensus candidate. The development is expected to shape political alignments in the state as opposition parties prepare their own strategies for the 2027 contest.
