The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Ikioye Orutugu, has personally visited Ndiukwuenu community in Orumba North Local Government Area following the deadly attack that claimed the lives of two police officers and two civilians. The visit came less than 24 hours after gunmen ambushed the convoy of the Chief of Staff to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Chief Ben Nwankwo, along the Amansea–Ndiora–Ndiukwuenu–Awa–Ufuma Road on Sunday night. 
During the inspection, Orutugu led a joint security team comprising personnel of the Nigerian Army, the Anambra State Police Command, and the Agunechemba Security Squad to assess the crime scene and coordinate an intensified response. The police commissioner ordered a full-scale manhunt for the attackers and directed the deployment of specialised forensic resources to assist investigators in identifying and tracking down those responsible. He also urged residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing intelligence that could lead to arrests and prosecutions. 
Investigations revealed that the death toll from the attack rose to four, including the two police officers and two civilians who were travelling in the convoy. Authorities believe the gunmen laid an ambush before opening fire on the convoy. Although Chief Ben Nwankwo escaped unharmed, the attack has heightened concerns over security along the Amansea–Ufuma axis, an area security officials say has increasingly attracted criminal activity in recent months. 
Security operatives disclosed that intelligence gathered so far suggests the attackers may not be residents of the affected community. According to members of the Agunechemba Security Squad, the suspects are believed to operate from Awka and carry out hit-and-run attacks in neighbouring communities before retreating. During ongoing operations, security forces combed surrounding bushes, secured major flashpoints, and arrested one suspect reportedly dressed in police camouflage. Authorities insist significant progress has been made in the investigation and have expressed confidence that the perpetrators will soon be apprehended.
