Italian police have arrested two Nigerians and three other African migrants over the alleged abduction and gang rape of a 32-year-old Colombian tourist in Rome, Italy. Authorities said the woman was allegedly held captive for nearly 72 hours inside an abandoned building on the outskirts of the Italian capital, where she was repeatedly assaulted and threatened before eventually escaping. 
According to reports from Italian investigators, the victim was allegedly approached near Rome’s Termini area by a man who offered to sell her hashish before she was later forced into a vehicle and transported to a deserted property in the Tor Cervara district. Police said the woman was drugged, repeatedly raped, and physically abused throughout the period of captivity. She eventually escaped and was later discovered half-naked and distressed on a roadside by a passerby who alerted emergency services. Medical examinations reportedly confirmed signs of sexual assault and drug intoxication. 
The suspects arrested include two Nigerians identified as Isibor Wisdom, 29, and Paul Nwabueze, 39, alongside Gambian nationals Saidykhan Lamin and Karamba Kanteh, and a Malian identified as Harouna Traore. Italian authorities said all five suspects have been charged with aggravated gang rape due to the victim’s vulnerable condition and are currently in police custody pending further investigations. During a raid on the abandoned building, police also reportedly discovered 22 undocumented migrants, with 11 transferred to detention facilities ahead of deportation proceedings. 
The case has generated widespread reactions in Italy and internationally, especially amid ongoing debates surrounding immigration, organised crime, and public safety in parts of Europe. Italian investigators said efforts are continuing to identify and arrest additional individuals believed to have participated in the operation, including the man who initially lured the victim and the driver who transported her to the location. The incident has also intensified political discussions around illegal migration and security policies in Italy, where migration-related crimes remain a highly sensitive national issue.
