President Bola Tinubu recorded a massive victory in the All Progressives Congress presidential primary in Edo State after polling 131,096 votes across the state’s 192 wards. The primary election, held simultaneously nationwide on Saturday, saw Tinubu overwhelmingly defeat his challenger, Stanley Osifo, who secured just one vote in the entire state. 
Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, who served as the returning officer for the exercise, announced the results at the APC secretariat in Benin City. According to the governor, the primary was conducted peacefully across all 18 local government areas, with Tinubu dominating almost every ward and council area in the state. Okpebholo also participated in the exercise at his polling unit in Esan Central Local Government Area and praised party members for maintaining order throughout the process. 
Detailed results released after the collation showed Tinubu recording especially strong numbers in Edo South Senatorial District, including 13,147 votes in Ikpoba-Okha, 10,074 votes in Egor, and 9,177 votes in Oredo Local Government Area. In Edo North, the President secured 11,497 votes in Etsako West and 7,464 votes in Akoko-Edo, while he also swept all five local government areas in Edo Central Senatorial District. Osifo’s only recorded vote reportedly came from Ovia North-East Local Government Area. 
The outcome marks a significant political turnaround for the APC in Edo State following the 2023 presidential election, where Labour Party candidate Peter Obi won the state with a commanding lead over Tinubu and PDP candidate Atiku Abubakar. Political analysts say the latest APC primary results reflect the ruling party’s renewed efforts to consolidate its structure in Edo after Governor Okpebholo’s emergence strengthened APC influence in the state. The presidential primary victory also adds momentum to Tinubu’s second-term campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections, with several APC leaders across the country already publicly endorsing his re-election bid.
