Celebrity businessman and socialite Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu does not fully trust him because of his previous support for Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential election. The nightlife entrepreneur made the revelation during a livestream conversation with popular streamer Peller, where he spoke openly about politics, ethnicity, and his changing political alliances. 
In the viral video circulating online on Wednesday, Cubana Chief Priest said he believes the President still views him with suspicion because he is Igbo and once actively supported Obi’s presidential ambition. According to him, Tinubu “looks at him with one eye” due to concerns over his past political alignment during the fiercely contested 2023 election. The socialite currently serves as the Imo State Coordinator of the Pro-Tinubu City Boys Movement, a group openly campaigning in support of the President ahead of the 2027 elections. 
Explaining why he switched political loyalty, Cubana Chief Priest stated that he no longer wanted to remain on the losing side politically. During the livestream, he dismissed Peter Obi’s chances in the next presidential race and described him as “not serious,” insisting that only “serious people” would succeed politically in 2027. His comments immediately triggered heated reactions online, especially among supporters of Obi and Tinubu, with many debating whether celebrities should openly make such politically charged statements. 
The remarks come amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with major opposition figures and political influencers repositioning themselves across different parties and coalitions. Peter Obi, who recently secured clearance to contest the Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential primary, remains one of the country’s most influential opposition figures with a large youth-driven support base known as the “Obidients.” Political analysts say statements from high-profile entertainers and socialites increasingly reflect how celebrity influence, online culture, and politics have become deeply interconnected in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
