Nigerian music star Davido has publicly criticised former Osun State governor and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, amid rising political tension ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Osun State. The singer accused Oyetola of political desperation in a strongly worded post shared on X on Tuesday, declaring that the former governor’s alleged plans “will not work.” 
In the viral social media post, Davido wrote, “The most desperate politician in the world is @GboyegaOyetola, very embarrassing. Oyetola, your plan no go work.” Although the singer did not explain what specific plan he was referring to, the statement quickly sparked intense reactions online from supporters and critics across political and entertainment circles. As of the time of reporting, Oyetola and his media team had not officially responded to the comments. 
The development adds another layer to the longstanding political rivalry between supporters of Governor Ademola Adeleke and Oyetola, who lost the 2022 Osun governorship election to Adeleke after a fiercely contested race. Davido, who is Adeleke’s nephew, played a highly visible role during the campaign period and has remained one of the governor’s strongest celebrity supporters. Political tensions in the state have continued to rise as conversations around the 2026 governorship election gain momentum. 
The singer’s comments triggered widespread debate on social media, with users divided over whether entertainers should openly participate in political battles.
