The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has strengthened security operations across the state ahead of the upcoming Sallah celebrations, with authorities deploying additional personnel and increasing surveillance in vulnerable communities to prevent criminal attacks during the festive period. The move followed a strategic security review meeting held in Ilorin involving area commanders, tactical units, and senior officers within the command. 
According to the command’s spokesperson, Ayoola Shola, the meeting focused on reviewing rising security concerns including kidnapping, banditry, vandalism, and other violent crimes affecting parts of Kwara State and neighbouring regions. State Commandant Abbas Ndah Mohammed directed divisional officers and tactical units to intensify intelligence gathering and strengthen information-sharing networks to improve early detection of criminal activities. He also ordered round-the-clock patrols around worship centres, highways, markets, and other strategic locations expected to witness increased movement during the Sallah festivities. 
The latest security reinforcement comes amid heightened concerns over insecurity in Nigeria’s North-Central region following several attacks and kidnapping incidents recorded earlier this year. Kwara State itself witnessed major security challenges in recent months, including deadly attacks in border communities that raised fears over the spread of extremist violence into new areas. Security analysts say authorities are now under pressure to prevent similar incidents during major religious celebrations when large crowds and increased travel activities often create additional security risks. 
The NSCDC also emphasized the importance of collaboration among security agencies, stressing that effective crime prevention requires coordinated operations between the corps, the police, military, local vigilante groups, and intelligence networks. Residents across the state were urged to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or activities to security authorities, while the command assured citizens that proactive deployments had already commenced to ensure peaceful Sallah celebrations across Kwara State.
