The All Progressives Congress has reversed its earlier decision barring former senator Ben Murray-Bruce and several other aspirants from participating in the party’s senatorial primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections. The ruling party released an updated clearance list on Monday, removing the names of Murray-Bruce and four other aspirants from the list of those initially declared “not cleared” to contest. 
The revised document, signed by APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka, reduced the number of affected aspirants from 47 to 44. Although the party did not officially explain the sudden reversal, the development immediately sparked reactions within political circles because Ben Murray-Bruce was among the most prominent names on the earlier disqualification list released just hours before the updated version emerged. Other aspirants removed from the list include Chimzobam Kingsley Nnalue from Anambra North, Gyang Yaya Zi San from Plateau North, Napoleon Binkap Bah from Plateau South, and Usman Ephraim Gar from Plateau Central. 
Murray-Bruce, a former senator who represented Bayelsa East between 2015 and 2019, has remained a notable figure in Nigerian politics and media through his involvement with the Silverbird Group and his outspoken political commentary. His initial exclusion had generated widespread debate online, with many party supporters questioning the rationale behind the screening outcome before the APC eventually revised the document. 
The updated list also introduced fresh adjustments affecting other aspirants nationwide. Ibrahim Bala from Nasarawa West was newly listed among those not cleared, while Abdulkarim Abubakar Kana from the same district was marked as having voluntarily withdrawn from the race. Analysts believe the rapid revisions reflect ongoing negotiations, internal consultations, and political maneuvering within the APC as the party prepares for highly competitive primaries across the country ahead of the next election cycle.
