Armed gunmen have abducted a school principal and an unspecified number of students during coordinated attacks on schools in Ahoro-Esinele community, Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, throwing the area into panic. The attack reportedly occurred in the early hours of Friday when the assailants stormed Community High School and nearby schools while students were gathered for morning activities. 
According to the Oyo State Police Command, the attackers, who operated on motorcycles, simultaneously invaded Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota, and Community Grammar School/L.A Primary School, Esiele. Several pupils, students, and staff members, including Vice Principal Mrs. Alamu Folawe, were abducted during the operation. Police authorities said the exact number of kidnapped victims was still being verified as rescue efforts continued. 
The incident also turned deadly as an assistant headmaster identified as Mr. Adesiyan was killed during the attack. Reports further stated that a commercial motorcyclist was shot dead after allegedly resisting attempts by the gunmen to seize his motorcycle. Witnesses said the attackers later fled through a forest reserve after setting ablaze a Toyota Corolla vehicle belonging to one of the abducted school officials. 
Following the attack, Oyo State Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, reportedly led tactical teams and other security operatives to the affected communities for on-the-spot assessment and rescue coordination. The police said intelligence units, operational assets, and tactical squads had been deployed across the area to track down the kidnappers and secure the release of the victims. 
The Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board also confirmed the attack and announced the temporary closure of schools in some neighbouring communities as a precautionary measure. The incident has renewed concerns over rising insecurity and repeated attacks on schools in parts of Nigeria, particularly involving kidnappings carried out by armed groups targeting students and education workers.
