The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 60-year-old man, Musa Garba, for allegedly defiling a nine-year-old girl in Magama Gumau, Toro Local Government Area of the state. The arrest followed a report filed by the victim’s father at the Toro Divisional Police Headquarters. 
According to the command’s spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Habib, the incident was reported on Friday, after which detectives immediately launched an investigation that led to the suspect’s arrest. The police said the child was taken to a medical facility for examination and treatment while the suspect remains in custody. 
Habib stated that preliminary investigations revealed the suspect allegedly lured the child before committing the offence. He added that the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough investigation and prosecution. 
The police command condemned sexual violence against minors and urged parents and guardians to closely monitor children while promptly reporting suspicious behaviour to security agencies. Authorities also reiterated their commitment to ensuring justice for victims of abuse and protecting vulnerable children across the state.
