The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested a 35-year-old fish seller and two women over alleged involvement in immoral activities during a raid at the Sheikh Muhammad Nasiru Kabara Housing Estate, popularly known as Bandirawo Housing Estate, along Daura Road in Kano. The arrests were confirmed on Wednesday by the board’s Director of Public Enlightenment, Auwalu Sheshe. 
According to the statement, Hisbah operatives led by Hafizu Garba Adakawa apprehended Khadija Ahmad, a 30-year-old woman from Katsina State, during the operation. Officers also found the fish seller, Ali Abubakar, alongside a woman identified as Fatima Abubakar from Niger Republic, inside one of the rooms where they were allegedly preparing to engage in immoral conduct. 
The board alleged that during interrogation, Khadija admitted she occasionally rented out rooms in the apartment for prostitution in exchange for payment. She reportedly claimed the property belonged to another woman who had travelled to Egypt and stated that similar activities were common within the neighbourhood. The suspects allegedly pleaded for forgiveness and promised not to repeat the act. 
The suspects were later arraigned before a court situated within the Hisbah Board premises and presided over by Malam Sani Tanimu Hausawa. The Kano State Hisbah Board reiterated its commitment to enforcing moral standards and combating activities it considers contrary to Islamic and societal values across the state. 
The Kano State Hisbah Corps is a religious enforcement body established to promote compliance with Sharia-related moral regulations in Kano State, particularly among Muslims. Its activities have often generated public debate regarding morality enforcement, religious policing, and individual rights in northern Nigeria.
