Lagos Government Seals Domino’s Pizza Outlet Over Sewage Violation

The Lagos State Government has sealed a Domino’s Pizza outlet located at 38B Freedom Way, Lekki, Eti-Osa, over the alleged discharge of untreated sewage into the environment and public drainage channels. The enforcement action was carried out by the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office following complaints from residents in the area.

According to the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, investigations revealed that the outlet’s septic tank had become overfilled, leading to the release of untreated sewage from its chamber into nearby drains and the surrounding environment. Authorities said the situation created offensive odour, environmental pollution, and potential health risks for residents and businesses around Lekki.

Wahab stated that the state government would continue enforcing environmental regulations against individuals and organisations violating wastewater management laws. He warned that businesses found engaging in improper sewage disposal could face sanctions, closure, or prosecution under existing environmental laws.

The action forms part of a broader crackdown by the Lagos State Government on environmental and sanitation violations across the state. In recent weeks, authorities have also sealed estates, restaurants, and event centres in Lekki, Victoria Island, Ajah, and Surulere over similar allegations involving illegal sewage disposal and wastewater pollution.
