Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has met with Senate President Godswill Akpabio as part of consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections and his anticipated re-election campaign. The governor disclosed that he led a delegation of political leaders and stakeholders from the state to visit Akpabio in Abuja to seek his blessings and strengthen political unity within Akwa Ibom. 
According to Eno, the visit was also meant to appreciate the Senate President for his continued support toward the peace, unity, and development of Akwa Ibom State. In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, the governor reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with President Bola Tinubu, Akpabio, and other APC leaders to advance what he described as a shared vision for a more united and progressive state. 
The meeting further highlights Eno’s increasing political alignment with the ruling All Progressives Congress after his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party in 2025. Since joining the APC, the governor has intensified consultations and party engagements ahead of the 2027 elections, including purchasing and submitting his governorship nomination forms for a second term bid earlier this month. 
Akpabio, a former governor of Akwa Ibom and one of the most influential political figures in the state, is widely seen as a key power broker whose endorsement could shape the political landscape ahead of the elections. Political observers say the meeting signals efforts by APC leaders to consolidate internal unity and strengthen the party’s chances in Akwa Ibom ahead of 2027.
